The Voluntary Ecological Year (Freiwilliges Ökologisches Jahr, FÖJ) is an educational and orientation year for teenagers and young adults between the ages of 16 and 26.

What awaits you:

1. Water adventure along the Alluvial Forest Trail

Kinder auf eine Floß.

Do you feel like a jungle adventure? You've come to the right place! The adventure slide is a gateway to another world: follow the path through the thicket and beneath the tall trees, solve the mysteries waiting for you along the way, make your way hand over hand along the rope across the deep waterhole and cross the stream with a raft.

2. Magical discoveries along the Mountain Forest Trail

Kinder haben Spaß an einer Schaukel
The Mountain Forest Trail opens with an imaginative playground in a class of its own. Here you'll find giant swings, which you can use to swing through the forest like a monkey, and a cobweb for climbing between the trees. Get to know the inhabitants of the forest that are hidden during the day and try to jump further than a deer or a hare.

3. Fascinating views along the Treetop Trail

Our fascinating Treetop Trail offers you a spectacular view of the turquoise-green Lech river and the soaring Alps. At a height of up to 21 metres, you can enjoy a bird's eye view and even cross the border between Bavaria (GER) and Tyrol (AUT) with a deliberate step.

4. An exhibition that touches all the senses

Listen to the voices of the forest, examine insects and plant parts under a microscope and try to recognise wood, needles and moss by smell: The newly opened exhibition "Our Forest" is a unique sensory experience! We invite you to explore the forest with lots of fun and imagination.

5. Oasis in the mountain forest: the Forest Snack Bar

Waldimbiss im Walderlebniszentrum Füssen
We offer you a cosy place for a well-deserved break in the Forest Snack Bar. Enjoy a hearty snack after a challenging hike, coffee and cake with the whole family or a delicious ice cream - you can recharge your energy reserves here.

6. Discover the Lech river and its surroundings

Not only the Forest Adventure Centre offers you a wonderful time-out in nature but from there, you can explore many more sites such as the Lechfall waterfall with the Maxsteg footbridge (10-minute walk) or visit the historic old town of Füssen (20-minute walk).
